I've had this on my list for a while! Hope to get into that soon. In the meantime, I have several episodes on my podcast on the topics (https://www.youtube.com/@GoldenShadowOrg/videos): thinking vs feeling, sensation vs intuition and extraversion vs introversion.
This, along with your Mapping the Psyche piece from last year, have been such insightful reads for me as a fellow INFJ. I can find the functions and their orientations quite confusing to get straight in my head but you explain them in such natural and intuitive ways. This really resonated with me and feels like a really accessible way to dive deeper into my own typology. Thank you!
I'm really glad to hear this :) And I totally get what you mean. The functions and attitudes can be really difficult to fully wrap your mind around. I have been repeatedly frustrated with various sources (Jung included!). It still feels difficult at times. Writing these posts helps me clear my own thoughts on the subject. Or explore a new possible application. More posts to come on the subject in time.
Are there any particular aspects of this personality type or typology in general that you want to know more about?
I'm really interested to know a bit more about John Beebe's 8 function model and the idea of adding an archetypal element to the more unconscious functions if you had anything to share on that? And more broadly just the "stack" of functions and how they interact, how we engage the more inaccessible functions and make them conscious. Honestly I did tests out of curiosity years ago but then kind of just set the information aside because it felt a bit too ego-stroking? Just not juicy enough I guess lol, but I love the idea of using the whole picture to find signposts to the parts that are in shadow and how they might be operating unconsciously. I'll have to check out the podcast episodes you've done on typology too!
Great topics! Have you read Beebe's book? I find his model to be rich in taking the entirety of the psyche and functions into consideration. Gets us out of the limiting perspective that pop typology tends to focus on. I'll add this to my list. I've been wanting to speak more to the function stack as well - especially the inferior function and how it interplays with the others.
Yeah, the tests don't often point us in the direction of exploring the nuances of our psychology. What might be more shadowy/unconscious, how we can work to further differentiate the functions, etc. It is why I like to point others in the direction of Jung's work (or other Jungian writers).
I like the exploration into Jungian Typology, are you able to do a function drive into each of the 4 functions, and make it a series?

Great thanks for reminding me
Hope you enjoy :)
